This screen shot shows the control as viewed with the ShowSettings option checked. The settings are visible on the surface of the control so you can see what they are without having to enter the settings pane. This is a great way to debug a control or page when initially setting it up. They are easily turned off by unchecking ShowSettings option.

10 properties control the functionality of the control as well as the look and feel. They are:

  • Parse Folder
  • Column Count
  • File Mask
  • Use Custom Mask
  • Custom Mask
  • Sort Order
  • Control Width
  • Show Header
  • Control Style
  • Header Text

The control parses the target folder for the specific file types based on the file mask, and builds a table based on the Column Count and Header Text properties. Header Text can be removed from the display and the Sort Order can be Ascending or Descending. The look of the display is controlled in two ways. If the skin handles built-in tables, then you can leave the control without any theme. If the skin does not handle built-in tables, then you have 17 built-in themes that can be applied by selecting the Control Style to attach a theme to the display area.

The same control shown above is displayed below with the show settings off. This is how the normal user would see the control.
